A new event at the Blue Ridge Barbecue Festival, the Rubbie Duckie River Race will be held June 12-13, with ducks racing down the Pacolet River adjacent to the Festival grounds.
Sponsored by Service Master of Polk/Spartanburg, the race is held to benefit Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Polk County and the Carolina Foothills Chamber Foundation.
No ordinary ducks are these - cash prizes await the winner of the event. Cool fun for a cool cause - what better way to spend part of a Festival visit than doing some river racing!

The Competition: Two heats will be held Friday, with another heat set for Saturday. The Top 10 ducks in each heat will face in the final on Saturday.
Prizes: One $100 winner per heat, $1,000 to the winner of the final.
Proceeds: Proceeds from the Rubber Duckie River Race benefit Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Polk County and the Carolina Foothills Chamber Foundation.
Cost: Duckies are $5 each, $20 for a family of 4 Duckies, $50 for flock of 12 Duckies or $100 for flight of 25 Duckies.
Tickets: Pick up your Duckie Tickets in Tryon at The Book Shelf, Kathleen’s Simply Irresistible Gallery and Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce; in Columbus at Watson Appliance and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; in Landrum at Hospice Thrift Barn or get them from any Big Brother Big Sister Volunteer.
